I am juggler of calendars. With my hands, I balance my life as a wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, taxi driver, student and a writer. I admit it has been a long while since my last blog post. What’s worst? I have not been to a gym in since 2021. Unfortunately, I sustained a glitch in my back and have had to deal with its tug and pull and an array of excuses. Nevertheless, the my back problem has resolved itself, which is to say I have no excuses not to move it – my assets!
This reminds me of Tim Gunn’s mantra to his mentees. “Make it Work,” when best-laid plans of mice and men go awry. This stance makes perfectly good sense, and I often use his mantra to push myself and others.
Sometimes I fall religiously into the spin cycle of life, moving in my mind instead of shifting my feet forward. Nevertheless, I speak life over myself because I know I can do all things through Christ who strengthens so I can climb back onto that wagon of hope. Maybe this resonates with you. For the past several years I have been hearing the end note of a TV commercial proclaiming to viewers that “Time waits for no one.” This is so true since tomorrow is not promised. I have to motivate myself and do my due diligence: jump, punch, and crunch my way to a better body. But wait there’s more! The other day, I made time to press play on a forty-five minute cardio video. Maybe it doesn’t sound like much but to me it’s a sweaty step in right direction – much better than standing still. I have resolved to continue sweating it out during early morning workouts, with my DVDs and just keep pushing until something happens!
In this season I want to embrace the new things that are on the horizon, even in the midst of this world’s stops and starts. I tell myself to stay focused. Keep moving my feet, placing one in front of the other. Even if I stumble, I encourage myself, to make it work!
